Leading off the 2022 Grand Chess Tour will be the Superbet Chess Classic held from 3-15 May in Bucharest, Romania. The series of the Grand Chess Tour 2022 events will follow with three rapid & blitz tournaments in Paris, Croatia, and Warsaw; and will conclude with the final classical event, the Sinquefield Cup.
Following last year’s popular classical framework, the Grand Chess Tour Romania 2022 will host ten players competing in a classical round-robin struggle for the $350,000 in prize money. The novelty is that the Grand Chess Tour events becomes part of the World Championship cycle.

The Winner of the event will get 12 GCT points, as well as the money prize of 100.000$. Any player who wins a GCT event outright (without the need for a playoff) will earn a bonus GCT Tour Point for the outright victory and the total of 13 GCT points for winning the tournament from the tour.
