The 2022 Kyrgyzstan Open and Women’s National Chess Championships concluded today in the Kyrgyzstan capital, Bishkek. The events were simultaneously played from April 30 – May 11.

60 players competed in the Open event through 11 rounds. IM Semetey Tologontegin, IM Asyl Abdyjapar and IM Mikhail Markov tied for the first place scoring 8.5/11 points, proceeding to a playoff round-robin of three rounds. IM Semetey Tologontegin scored 1.5 points clinching the title of Kyrgyzstan National Champion, IM Mikhail Markov was second with 1 point and Asyl Abdyjapar came third with 1/2 point.

After 9 played rounds in Women’s section in competition of 34 players, five players scored 6.5/9 points to tie for the top: Aiana Abaeva, Nurai Sovetbekova, Aizhan Sezdbekova, WFM Alexandra Samaganova and WFM Begimai Zairbek Kyzy. The playoff tournament of 4 round-robin rounds determined WFM Begimai Zairbek Kyzy as the Winner of Kyrgyzstan Women’s Chess Championship 2022. She emerged on the top of the playoff with 3 points, followed by WFM Alexandra Samaganova and Aiana Abaeva who had 2 points and claimed silver and bronze, respectively.
