The Women’s National Team and the representatives of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation met with Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The 44th Chess Olympiad 2022 starts on 28th July in Chennai, and Kazakhstan Women’s Team will compete with the following composition:
Kazakhstan Team (Women’s section):
With the absence of Chinese and Russian teams at the Olympiad, the Kazakhstani Women’s Team (with an average rating of 2418.8) will be one of the favorites to get to the Winners’ podium. The Kazakhstan President at the meeting expressed hope the Women’s National team would successfully perform at the Olympiad. He supported the proposals to include chess as an optional subject in the school curriculum, following the Georgian decision to include chess as a compulsory subject in more than 2000 schools. He announced the construction of a boarding school in Almaty with an in-depth study of chess and IT technologies designed for 1,500 students. In addition, the Head of State focused on the importance of supporting chess as a sport by entrepreneurs. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed that he would keep a close eye on chess development and support for the game in the country and wished the young athletes new victories on the world stage.
