The 49th edition of the International Dortmund Chess Festival commences tomorrow at the Congress Centre of the Westfalenhallen Dortmund. The festival features No-Castling World Masters 2022, German Grand Prix 2022, Sparkassen Chess Trophy Open tournaments (A and B), and No-castling online events.

This year, the field of the No-Castling World Masters 2022 gathers 15th World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand, 14th World Chess Champion Vladimir Kramnik, the best English Chess player Michael Adams, and European Team Champion with Germany 2011 Daniel Fridman. The event will be played from 18 – 24 July as a double round-robin tournament, in 6 rounds.
Seven grandmasters will compete in the German Grand Prix in 7 rounds. Each day one grandmaster will not be paired, but will join the live studio commenting the games live with GM Artur Jussupow. The participants are:
The Sparkassen Chess Trophy 2022 will be played from 16-24 July 2022 within two categories: A and B. The events gathered more than 400 players who will fight for the total prize fund of 12.000 euros. The battlefield of the A tournament is led by GM Erwin L’Ami, GM Max Warmerdam and GM Andreas Heimann. (Scroll down for complete lists of participants)
