2022 Chennai Olympiad – Round 6

Day six of the 2022 Chennai Olympiad was gloomy for both the Kenyan teams. The Open team lost 3-1 against Cyprus while the Ladies also lost by the same score to Bolivia.
Martin Njoroge kept Kenyan hopes alive with a crucial win on board three, while WCM Joyce Nyaurai overcame her opponent on board four.

Somalia defeated Sudan 2.5-1.5 while Uganda crashed 4-0 to Latvia.
Mali, conversely, edged out Tanzania 2.5-1.5, while Burundi lost 3.5-0.5 to Haiti.
Egypt defeated South Africa by a score of 3-1, with the only point coming from FM Daniel Barrish, who beat GM Adly Ahmed on board 2.
The top African nation at the end of round 6 in the Open section was Egypt in position number 39. Nigeria was 71st, while South Africa was 83rd..
Uganda was 107th, while Kenya was 135th. A total of 186 nations are participating in the Open section.
The top African nation at the end of round 6 in the Ladies section was Egypt in position number 59 while Kenya was in the 9th position. A total of 160 federations are participating in the Ladies section.
Armenia was leading in the Open section, with the United States of America in second place. India was leading in the Ladies section, with Azerbaijan in second place.
Today is a rest day for the competitors, and the action resumes on 5th August 2022.
