The “ChessMood” International Open Chess Tournament kicked off today and takes place from September 29 to October 09 at the 5 star Tsaghkadzor Marriott Hotel in Armenia. The event is played in 9 rounds, swiss system, within two groups: A (2000+) and B (U2000), with the total prize fund of 10.250.000 Armenian drams (around 21.000 euros). Time control for the A tournament is 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, plus 30 minutes till the end of the game with 30 seconds increment starting from move one.
84 players from 17 countries, including 17 grandmasters and 12 international masters compete in the A category. GM Shant Sargsyan, GM Maxime Lagarde and GM Manuel Petrosyan headline the field. Scroll down for starting rank list of players
ChessMood International Open 2022 – Live games
The opening ceremony was attended by the first deputy president of the Armenian Chess Federation- Smbat Lputyan, the general sponsor and founder of Royal Signature Armen Unanyan, the founder of “ChessMood” Avetik Grigoryan, the director of the Trade Union of Electrical Networks of Armenia Artyom Muradyan, and the mayor of Tsaghkadzor Narek Harutyunyan. They welcomed all the players, wishing them spectacular games, emphasizing the significance of the tournament being held during such a tough period, and adding that such events foster the massification of chess and the multidimensional development of future generations.
