The 2022 Kenya Schools Chess Championship

The 2022 Kenya Schools Chess Championship, which ran between the 18th and 22nd of September 2022 at the Moi Girls School in Eldoret, was a resounding success.
A record 1,867 participants from 330 schools participated in the event, making it one of the largest African tournaments north of the Limpopo River.
The top players from the U7, U9, U11, U13, U15 and U17 age categories were to form part of the Kenyan team to the 2022 African Schools Chess Championship, which was to take part in Monrovia, Liberia.
The African Chess Confederation has confirmed that the event will not occur due to some logistical and funding issues. The cancellation will be a big blow to the winners who worked extremely hard to come so far.
The participants for the event were selected from the various regional events held earlier in different parts of Kenya. All players who scored two or more points were eligible to take part.

Organiser – NI Moses Andiwoh
Tournament Director – Titus Kirega
Chief Arbiter – FA Moses Maina
Deputy Chief Arbiters – Anthony Kionga, Ronald Bolo, Faith Wairimu, David Lekopien
Appeals Committee – Tony Mutua, Terence Chazima, Paul Ombui, Jimmy Simiyu, Samuel Mwimenyi
