Jamie Obora wins Pegasus Chess Tournament

Jamie Obora, a member of the Lighthouse Chess Club, was the clear winner in the Pegasus Junior Chess Championship when he stormed to victory with a perfect score of 7/7.
Yashmith Ram Chaikam, Ganeev Singh Gahir, Sarthak Patnaik, Neema Kahihu and WCM Janki Shah tied for second place with 6 points.  However, based on tie-breaks, Yashmith Ram Chaikam was declared the runners-up, and Ganeev Singh Gahir was the 2nd runners-up.

A total of 112 players took part in Nairobi Chess Club’s first FIDE-rated event for juniors. The event ran on the weekend of 22nd and 23rd October 2022.
Benjamin Negru, a member of the club’s executive committee, was the leading promoter of the event.
Round six saw a dramatic game between Jamie Obora and Sarthak Patnaik, a talented junior member of the Nairobi Chess Club. Sarthak Patnaik built up a superior position but blundered under time pressure on move 47 and then lost the game when his time ran out a few moves later.
