2022 Kenya National Chess Championship

The 2022 Kenya National Chess Championship is set to run from 26th to 30th December 2022 at Charter Hall in downtown Nairobi.
For the third year running the Chess Kenya Federation will offer the winner of the Open section a car!  The hotly contest event will most likely see the former Kenya National Champions taking part for top honours.   These include 2018 Dr Victor Ng’ani (2018), Mehul Gohil (2019) and Martin Njoroge (2021).
The dark horses of the event will most likely include CM Ben Magana, Githinji Hinga and 2022 Kenya National Junior Champion Robert Mcligeyo.
The top prize of the Ladies’ section is KES 100,000 (or approximately USD 900). Former Kenya National Ladies Champions Gwen Jumba (2018), WCM Lucy Wanjiru (2019) and WCM Sasha Mongeli (2021) will undoubtedly be in action.
The top 24 players will then proceed to the second phase to select the team for the 2023 African Games. The event takes place in Accra, Ghana, from the 4th to the 19th of August, 2023.
