The President of the Africa Chess Confederation Tshepiso Lopang is among the final three names shortlisted for the “Administrator of the Year” award in the Annual Botswana Women’s Sports Awards.
Last year Lopang broke new ground after she became the first woman to be elected as the President of the Africa Chess Confederation. Before her elevation, the mechatronics engineer served as the Africa Chess Commission Vice-President. Also nominated for an award is rising chess star Maya Otimile who has been shortlisted for the ‘Young Promising Female Athlete’.
A collaboration between Inside BW Sports, WASBO and BNSC the Botswana Women’s Sports Awards are aimed at celebrating excellence and honouring women in sports. The awards ceremony is scheduled for March 25 at the Lekidi Football Centre. This will be the first edition of the prestigious award ceremony.
