IM Balogun Oluwafemi and 19-year-old Olisa Tennyson emerged as the open and blitz champions at the 2nd edition of the Capa-Citi Chess tournament at the CitiHeights Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria.

At least 80 chess players from Nigeria,South Africa, China, Romania and India participated in the prestigious event. Oluwafemi registered five wins and earned a bye in the first round to emerge as champion with 5 ½ points while his opponent Olisa Tennyson, a 19-year old claimed second place with 5 points leaving Okemakinde Tolowanimi to settle for third place on tiebreaks.
The tournament was sponsored by Capablanca Farms in conjuction with Citi Luxury Hotel.
Dominance as Tennyson completes an all-round performance to win gold in the blitz section
Tennyson accumulated 7 ½ points to walk away with the gold medal in the blitz event whilst Lapite Oluwadurotimi and Balogun Oluwafemi completed the podium.
Other top-performers Henry Evbuomwan and Nishant Pathak of India were awarded the junior player prizes. Bridget Michael walked away with the best female gong and a ten-point rating gain.
