The invitation for the 2025 African Schools Individual Chess Championship has been released. This year’s edition of the championship will take place at the Pride Inn Paradise Resort & Spa in Mombasa, Kenya, from May 22nd to 29, 2025.
Six age groups will compete for honors in the championship, namely Under 7, Under 9, Under 11, Under 13, Under 15, and Under 17. Winners in each category, both open and girls, will receive personal rights to participate in the 2026 FIDE World Schools Individual Chess Championship.
Bernard Wanjala, Chess Kenya Federation President, expresses his excitment about hosting the 2025 Africa Schools Individual Chess Championship and promised to deliver a world-class championship. Kenya last hosted this tournament in 2021, and we hope our young players will replicate the success of 2021, which earned 12 medals.
