15-year-old Indian Grandmaster Gukesh D won the 1st Chess Menorca Open which was played from 20th to 24th April 2022 at Hotel Princesa Playa, Menorca, Spain.
Gukesh scored 6 points to be the sole winner of the event and the outstanding performance brought him 13.4 rating points. With live rating of 2660, Gukesh leaped to the 80th position on the world live rating list, thus becoming the youngest Indian to break into World Top 100 in the live ratings.
