The first major upset of the day was when 2019 Kenya National Ladies Champion Gloria Jumba held second seed Emmanuel Egesa to a draw.
Ben Nguku had a lucky escape in his game against U1700 World Champion Madelta Glenda when she missed a mate in three on move 30.
The Junior section has U8 & U10 in one group while the U12 & U18 are in the second group. These two sections have a total of just over fifty five players.
