The series of the Grand Chess Tour 2022 events continues from 17-20 May with the Grand Chess Tour Poland 2022 in Warsaw. Superbet Rapid & Blitz Poland is the newcomer joining the 2022 Grand Chess Tour as the second event of the tour. With help of major sponsor Superbet, Poland is another country to join the prestigious tournament’s circuit. In quintessential Grand Chess Tour fashion, Superbet Rapid & Blitz Poland will feature top level chess rivalry between world class grandmasters.
Ten players will compete for the total prize fund of 175.000$, playing 9 Rapid games (round robin system) and 18 Blitz games (double round robin system). The time control of Rapid games will be 25 minutes + 10 seconds increment, and for the Blitz games: 5 minutes + 2 seconds increment.
Grand Chess Tour Poland 2022 participants:
The Winner of the event will get 12 GCT points, as well as the money prize of 40.000$. Any player who wins a GCT event outright (without the need for a playoff) will earn a bonus GCT Tour Point for the outright victory and the total of 13 GCT points for winning the tournament from the tour. Tour Points are shared equally between tied players and shall not be impacted by the result of any playoff or tiebreaks that may take place.
After the end of the Grand Chess Tour Romania 2022, the overall tour ranking list is led by Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Wesley So and Levon Aronian who all earned 10 GCT points in Bucharest.
