Grandmaster Bassem Amin made history by becoming the first player to swoop all gold medals available on offer at the 13th edition of the African Games.
For the first time history was made at the 13th edition of the African Games as GM Bassem Amin became the first player to swoop all gold medals available at the multi-continental sporting event.
The Egyptian Grand Master was on a roll emerging as the gold medal winner in the men’s rapid, blitz and mixed rapid team and mixed blitz events. In the history of chess at the African Games no player has ever achieved this feat.
Speaking to the Africa Chess Confederation media team shortly after the closing ceremony of chess at the African Games, an enlightened Bassem was out of words.
’30 years of chess has just paid off.’- GM Bassem Amin
Amin will now be focusing on the African Individual Championship as he aims to continue with his podium dominance.
