Odion Aikhoje and Promise Oziegbe emerged as the champions of the National Friends of Chess winners in the over 2000 and under 2000 respectively.
The 4th seed player registered seven victories and two defeats to conclude the tournament with 7 out of 9 points with IM Bunmi Olape who settled for a silver medal.
FM Abdulrahman Abdulraheem and Daniel Akinseye finished the competition in 3rd and 4th position respectively. The tournament top seed IM Daniel Balogun finished in position 11 with 5,5 points. At least 50 players competed in the over 2000 section.
118 chess players competed in the under 2000 section and 7th seed player Promise Oziegbe accumulated 7,5 points to claim the trophy. Seeding proved to be nothing Efoso Evbuomwan emerged as the silver medal winner with 7 points. The 28th-seeded player defeated several players including top-ranked Phoenix Eluekezi. Six players Efoso, Sylvester Izokwu, Steven Didimakou, Nzubechukwu Ananti, Deborah Quickpen and Christopher Cole were all tied on seven points.

Teenage sensation, Deborah Quickpen shined in the under 2000 section finishing 6th with 7 points a very huge achievement for the youngster who entered the competition ranked 17. Quickpen walked away with the best female and best under 16 player in the tournament gongs.
