Young budding chess stars, Nourseen Amr and Deborah Quickpen will be representing the African continent at the FIDE World Cup scheduled for Batumi, Georgia from 22 June to 03 July 2024.
The two players are part of the 18 players who were awarded personal rights to participate in the prestigious chess competition.
9-year-old Nourseen Amr (1893) of Egypt will be competing in the girls 10 section whilst Nigeria’s Deborah Quickpen (1989) will battle it out with some of the world’s top-ranked players in the Girls 12 section.
The continental President will soon announce the other six players that will join Amr and Quickpen at the FIDE World Cup.
Meanwhile, ACC President Madam Tshepiso Lopang has congratulated the two players for being awarded personal rights.
