Celia Rodriguez clinched her third Cape Verde National Women’s Chess Championship title on the 5th of May 2024.

The championship was so competitive with a lot of fair play and uncertainty of the title until the final round.
Heading into the final round, defending champion Celia Rodriguez was only 0,5 points ahead of Deise Pereira, who wo her game early to put more press on the tournament leader.
In the championship title, Celia ended up winning her match to clinch her third Cape Verde National Women’s Chess Championship title.
Competing in her maiden Cape Verde National women’s chess championship, Deise Pereira finished second and earned her first women’s national masters title.
Out of the eight players that competed in the championships, four didn’t have a FIDE rating, and three of those players managed to score against players who already have international rating.
The Cape Verdean Chess Federation currently has just nine female players with FIDE Elo. Hence, the success of the three players provides the national chess federation any opportunity to have more rated players.
