Africa Youth Chess Championship
Since its inception in 2009, the African Youth Chess Championship has seen the birth of many African chess stars.
The first edition of the competition was hosted in South Africa (Rochester House, Salt River, Cape Town) in 2009.
In accordance with the FIDE regulations, the following age groups compete in the open and girls sections

Under 10
Under 12
Under 14
Under 16
Under 18
The winners of each age group category in both the Open and Girls Section are awarded personal rights to participate in the World Youth Chess Championship and World Cadets Chess Championship.
