IM Elijah Emojong wins 2022 Genocide Memorial

IM Elijah Emojong of Uganda was the 2022 Genocide Memorial Chess Tournament winner when he scored 5.5 points.
FM Haruna Nsubuga of Uganda also scored 5.5 points but had a lower tie-break to take the second spot but equally shared the RWF 380,000 (USD 400) cash prize.
The event held at the Hilltop Hotel in downtown Kigali attracted 48 participants and ran from 3rd to 5th June 2022.
Ben Tom Zimurinda was the top Rwandese player who ended with 5 points in joint second place or 3rd in the ranking.
Peter Majur Manyang of South Sudan, who won the 2022 Uganda Martyr Championship earlier in the month in Kampala, was fourth in the ranking.

In this game 72 year old veteran Joseph Kaamu delivers a double check and snatches a piece from his opponents.
