The 2022 Warsaw Chess Festival opens today at the Warsaw sports hall and will be held from July 8 to July 17, 2022. The Festival features Jan Maciej’s Memorial in blitz chess (scheduled for July 8) and Mieczysław Najdorf Memorial in classic chess (taking place from 9-17 July).
The total prize fund of the events is 60.000 PLN (~12.500 euros), with the prize pool of 15.000 PLN for Jan Maciej’s Memorial Blitz, 29.000 PLN for Najdorf memorial A tournament and 16.000 PLN for Najdorf memorial B tournament.
The Najdorf memorial will be played in two groups: A and B, in swiss system, over a distance of 9 rounds. The time control will be: 90 minutes for 40 moves + 30 minutes to the end of the game with an addition of 30 seconds per move from the beginning of the game. GM Bartlomiej Heberla, GM Daniel Sadzikowski and IM Christopher Noah headline the field of the open A tournament. (Scroll down for the starting rank list)
