Diego Zilleruelo wins NC Open Championship 2022

The 2022 NC Open was held over Thanksgiving Weekend from 25-27 November 2022 in Charlotte, NC, USA. The NCO featured a $11,000 prize fund and was played in 8 US Chess rated sections: Championship (1900+), U1900, U1700, U1500, U1300 and U1100. The event was running alongside the 2022 US Masters, a national event that featured the top players in the Americas. 

Diego Zilleruelo won the main NC Open Championship (U2200 rating section). Zilleruelo scored 5.5 points to be the sole Winner of the event and pocketed the money prize of 1000$. Vishnusankar Jonnalagadda was second with 5 points and Emmanuel Carter and Sritej Sattaru tied for the third place with 4.5 points each. Scroll down for final rankings

Jay Sarchwill won the U1900 tournament with the score of 5.5 points. Satchwill won the winner’s plaque and the money prize of 800$. Dean Bowler and Kabilesh Yuvaraj tied for second scoring 5 points each. David Schmitz and Annika Moorjani tied for the first place of the U1700 Championship and won 600$ prize (each). Kishan Karthigeyan was third with 5 points. Three players tied for first in the U1500 tournament: Henry Hui, Sridattha Kukkadapu and Raymond Tu equally sharing the prize of 1300$ in three parts (433$ each). Brian Remhoff was the Winner of the U1300 event with score of 5.5 points and won the prize of 600$. Kritarth Mishra, Norbert Obendorfer and Aaryav Sasha tied for second place with 5 points each. Shreyas Krishnan and Jonah Nus scored 5.5 points (each) to tie for the Winners title in the U1100 section while four players tied for bronze: Aarna Gupta, Jairaj Desai, Ryan Huang and Joshua Daugherty. John Wanamaker and Khabir Muhammad scored 4 points each to top the U800 category and Sahithi Sharma and Bryan Tran scored 4 points tying for the top of the U400 section.
