The African Chess Confederation has awarded Egypt the rights to host both the Africa Individual Chess Championships and the Africa Youth Chess Championships.
Nigeria hosted last year’s edition of the Africa Individual Chess Championship and the Egyptian pair of GM Amin Bassem and Wafa Shahenda were crowned as open and women’s champions respectively.
After their youth team’s impressive performance at last year’s edition of the Africa Youth Chess Championship in Lusaka, Zambia, Egypt will host this year’s edition of the prestigious youth showpiece.

We have also awarded Mauritania the right to host the Africa Junior Chess Championship. And when it comes to zonal competitions Morocco will host the Zone 4.1 event, Ivory Coast Zone 4.2 and Sudan Zone 4.4
