WFM Naledi Marape has been shortlisted as one of the nominees for the 2023 African Union Sports Council Region 5 Regional Annual Sports Awards (RASA) to be held in Eswatini on Saturday 24 June 2023.
Marape has been nominated for the Sportswoman of the Year in Southern Africa alongside long-distance runner Helalia Johannes of Namibia and South African swimmer Lara Van Niekerk.
The Botswana international won the outstanding female athlete of the Year at the 2022 Botswana Sports awards. In 2017 she became Africa’s highest-ranked Under-12 female chess player.
