EXCITEMENT BUILDS AS AFRICA’S TOP YOUNG CHESS PLAYERS PREPARE FOR THE 2024 AFRICAN SCHOOLS INDIVIDUAL CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP

Africa’s premier young chess players will gather at the Hunters Royal Hotel in Accra, Ghana, on Saturday, 14 November 2024, for the 2024 African Schools Individual Chess Championship.

This developmental tournament is designed for players under 17 years, divided into age groups comprising Under 7’s, Under 9’s, Under 11’s, Under 13’s, Under 15’s and Under 17’s.

The championship will feature participants from seven countries; Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Liberia, Gambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe, marking the event’s return after a three-year hiatus.

PLAYERS TO LOOK OUT FOR AT THE 2024 AFRICAN SCHOOLS INDIVIDUAL CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP

ABIGAIL KARYAH

Following her remarkable performance at the Chess Olympiad in Hungary, Liberia’s Abigail Karyah [1844] is definitely one to watch at the championship.

DAVE ACHEAMPONG

Dave Acheampong [1687] a shining star and former U-9 African Online Chess Championship titleholder, is sure to be a force to be reckoned with in the championship.
