At Stade Olympique, Mohamed Salem Yahi emerged victorious in the 2025 Mauritania National Chess Rapid championship, despite being seeded third, behind Ahmed Alem Abdou and Khaled Abdellahi. Yahi accumulated 6 ½ points, ultimately winning the championship with a single draw against top-seeded Ahmed Alem Abdou.

The 9th seeded player, 14-year-old Cherif Khaled Abdellahi Ahmed, and 16-year-old CM Ahmed Alem Abdou, were tied at 5 ½ points, and after a tiebreaker was applied, Cherif secured the silver medal, leaving CM Ahmed to settle for the bronze.

34 players clashed in the illustrious national rapid championship tournament, a powerful symbol of chess’s steady ascent in Mauritania.
