The Italian Summer Chess Tour 2022 features six open tournaments taking place one after another from May 16 – June 11, with a total prize fund of 35.000e.
The tour kicks off with the GM/IM Mix norm tournament which will be played from 16-20 May in Montebelluna. The 9 rounds swiss event named GrandMaster Grandiscacchi Chess Festival 2022 gathers 15 players from 10 countries with an average rating of 2467. The battlefield is led by GM Andrey Esipenko (2709), GM Vitaliy Bernadskiy (2636) and GM Baadur Jobava (2600). (Scroll down to see starting rank list of the players)
The Grandiscacchi Challenge 2022 will be the second event of the tour, taking place from 21-27 May in Montebelluna and it will feature four sections: A (2300+), B (2000-2300), C (1700-2000) and D (U1700). Andrey Esipenko, Vitaliy Bernadskiy, Baadur Jobava, Eltaj Safarli and Levan Pantsulaia will be the top seeds of the A tournament which will be played in 9 rounds, swiss system. Grandiscacchi Rapid and Blitz Chess Tournaments 2022 will follow from 28-29 May, with more than 30 entries from 11 countries, including participation of 12 grandmasters and a prize fund of 4.000e. (Scroll down to see starting rank list of the players)
The city of Cattolica will host the 2nd edition of Festival d’Estate from May 30 – June 3. The festival includes three swiss open events of 9 rounds: A (2300+), B (1700-2000), and C (1700). The event attracted 43 entries from 19 countries, with Esipenko, Bernadskiy and Jobava as the top seed trio. (Scroll down to see starting rank list of the players)
The 9th Cattolica Festival will be the fifth tournament of the tour, being played in two sections (Open A & Open B) from 4-11 June in Hotel Kursaal, Cattolica. 73 players from 23 countries registered for the event, including 24 grandmasters and 9 international masters. GM Kirill Shevchenko, GM Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu and GM Vitaliy Bernadskiy are the top seeds. (Scroll down to see starting rank list of the players)
The tour will conclude with the 2nd Festival di Giugno Treviso which will take place from 20-26 June in the city of Treviso. The event will be played in 3 sections: Masters (2000+), Open A (1700-2100) and Open B (U1800) with the total prize fund of 3.800e.
