The World Chess Championship Match 2023 between the reigning World Champion Magnus Carlsen and the Winner of Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 will take place in early 2023.
In a short video below it was seen how Magnus and Jorden discussed the new ideas that could possibly be used in the World Championship games. (scroll down for the full article)
Have an exclusive look behind the scenes of Team Carlsen preparing for his World Championship Match. #ChessChamps pic.twitter.com/feg0WhcRTU
Magnus Carlsen last year revealed the names of five players who helped him prepare against Ian Nepomniachtchi in the 2021 World Championship Match:
“First of all, we have Peter. He is the leader of the team, and also the adult in the room. Sometimes at least.” said Magnus to introduce his team. “Then we have perhaps our most important member that is Fressinet. He’s been here ever since the first match in 2013. I mean, I wanted somebody French in the team, and Vachier-Lagrave and Bacrot were not available, so it was this guy. Now I feel he is kind of glue in the group.”, added Magnus. “Then we have Jan… He is the go-to guy for both medium culture and low culture references and he is also pretty good at e5 as Black and especially with Marshal.“. Then he introduced Jorden van Foreest: “Jorden… Also known as the new guy. In this team he fulfills several roles, one is punching bag and no idea is too good or too bad to warrant his attention which is very important.“. The last team member Magnus spoke about is Daniil Dubov: “Then we finally have Daniil who has a bit of the same curiosity (as Jorden), although he has become a bit more selective and a bit more conservative and solid with the years.“.
