Olympic Committee Dinner – 2025 African Amateurs Chess Championships

On the sidelines of the 2025 African Amateurs Chess Championships, a special dinner was hosted to celebrate collaboration and progress in sport.

In attendance were:

Hon. Lydia Nsekera, Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture. She is the former Chair of the Burundi Football Federation (FFB), the first woman to be co-opted onto the FIFA Council, and currently Chair of the IOC Women in Sport Commission.

Mr. Salvator Bigirimana, Secretary General of the Burundi National Olympic Committee.

Wilfried Ntamatungiro, Treasurer of the African Chess Confederation & President of the Burundi Chess Federation.

This gathering highlights Burundi’s growing leadership in the Olympic movement and in African chess, as the nation continues to create opportunities for youth and champion the growth of chess across the continent.
